Alpha Omega, senior Haley Agin, has been named as the 2020 Homecoming Queen.
In spite of COVID-19, Agin and the Homecoming Court were presented in the first annual Mount Pisgah homecoming parade and the traditional halftime presentation during the homecoming football game on Friday, October 23.
During the parade on Friday morning, the Homecoming Court was introduced in convertibles to the entire Mount Pisgah body along with fall senior athletes, the drumline, and Varsity cheerleaders to celebrate each group and their successes.
“The parade was fun, and I loved seeing all the lower school students with their posters and the energy that they brought,” stated Agin.
Freshman court member, Savannah Simmons, agreed saying, “The parade was really exciting, and I loved seeing all of the little kids’ faces light up when our cars drove by.”
The parade displayed the love and joy the students and teachers carry out to one another, even in these uncertain times.
Agin and the court, dressed with sashes and traditional black Homecoming dresses and heels, were shown during halftime at the football game.
“The halftime presentation was good,” stated Agin. “I didn’t fall on my face or trip over anything, and it was fun to hear what everyone has accomplished during their high school career.”
Sophomore court member, Ansley Austin, states, “Although there was a limit to who could go due to COVID, halftime was still special and a lot of fun. It was so cool to hear my name and accomplishments announced while I was cheered on by my teammates, family, and fellow classmates.”
Even though the entire upper school could not attend the game, seniors and parents of the Homecoming Court were able to watch the game and the Homecoming Court.
Spectators in attendance shared in a special moment as last year’s queen, Ayomide Adewumi, passed the crown to Haley Agin as the next Mount Pisgah Homecoming Queen.
“Being Homecoming Queen means a lot to me because it means that I’ve made a positive impact within the high school,” mentioned Agin.
Although the Homecoming dance was cancelled due to COVID-19 this year, many students were thankful to have a parade and halftime presentation for the Homecoming Court.
Congratulations to the Homecoming Queen, Haley Agin, and those who were on the Homecoming Court!
