The varsity volleyball team has something to prove this year: back to back state champions.
Under leadership from head coach Claire Morgan and assistant coaches, Madelyn Jardina and Carly Morris, the Patriots have earned their impressive 41-7 record and have continued to prove their position as reigning state champs.
In past seasons, the volleyball team competed all the way until the Final Four match in 2022 and won the state championship in 2023.
Morgan has watched this team come together and grow over the years.
“These seniors were 8th graders when I started coaching here, and the growth I’ve seen in each of them has been tremendous. Their leadership, willingness to switch positions and do what the program needs, and ability to bring joy and uplift their teammates has been really cool to witness,” said Morgan.
Throughout this season, the team has persisted through intense competition and has come out victorious, winning the region and each game leading up to the Final Four.
During the Final Four match, Mount Pisgah had a reverse sweep, taking the game after losing the first two sets against Mount Paran.
The win has landed them in position to compete in the final game for the state championship.
“These last few years have set high expectations of what playing on the varsity team is going to continue to be. Mount Pisgah Volleyball has made a name for itself,” said Morgan.
The Patriots will take on the Hebron Lions in the state championship game. This will be played at Lakepoint Sports in Cartersville on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 5 p.m.
