As an upper school student at Mount Pisgah, you are likely to see Ms. Johnson and Ms.Dover walking together, chatting and sitting together at lunch. Dover and Johnson make a dynamic teacher duo at school because of their strong friendship, especially in how they advocate for each other and stick together.
They have known each other since 2007, when Ms. Dover started her career at Mount Pisgah. Among many of their fun pastimes, attending the homecoming dance as chaperones is something they love to do together. Dover said, “[we share] a sense of humor, empathy, interest in what the other person is doing, pride in our children and grandchildren, enjoyment of the subject we teach.”
Ms. Johnson came to Mount Pisgah in 2004, and she cannot remember when she first met Ms. Dover, but “it seems like I have known her forever,” said Johnson.
The best thing in this friendship is how the two can comfortably share anything with each other – the good and the bad. They have similar approaches to life, such as their love for God, families and teaching students.
“They are always there for each other and those around them,” said Ms. Coleman. “They are a constant support system and invested in the lives of their students and coworkers.”
Both Johnson and Dover are caring, thoughtful and real.
There are too many special moments to mention in this friendship, and their dedication to education builds a better school community.
In every Mount Pisgah student’s high school journey, they will come to know the energy, warmth and support that both Johnson and Dover provide daily.
