As the year comes to a close, so does Taylor Swift’s famed Eras tour. The tour has run for over a year and has traveled around the world.
The tour highlights 11 of Swift’s 12 ‘eras’, each having their own tracklist, set and costumes.
Swift’s fans or ‘Swifties’ have tended to dress up in a certain era.
Additionally, they would trade friendship bracelets. The idea for the bracelets was sparked by the song “You’re on your own kid” and its lyric “Cause there were pages turned with the bridges burned. Everything you lose is a step you take. So make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it. You’ve got no reason to be afraid.”
Swift has made many exciting announcements as she toured, such as the release of 1989 and Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and her longest album to date, The Tortured Poet’s Department.
Swift also includes surprise songs at the end of every show. The songs are often memorable mashups or tracks from her debut album which is excluded from the usual setlist.
Mount Pisgah’s own Faith Jennerich was able to attend. Jennerich said that it was a moving experience, which even if you are not a Swiftie, you are sure to enjoy.
“It was amazing. I even cried multiple times. I met so many wonderful people with the same passion for Taylor’s music,” Jennerich recalled.
Jennerich’s surprise songs were “How You Get the Girl” and “Bet You Think About Me” both are now some of her personal favorites.
Even for the fans who couldn’t go, it has been fun to watch the live streams and see everyone’s outfits on social media.
We will all definitely miss it but are so excited to see what Swift does next.
