As of this school year, Mount Pisgah has introduced a new leadership program, Pisgah Fellows. This program allows a group of Mount Pisgah’s high-achieving juniors and seniors to represent their school on and off campus while developing enduring professional skills.
Dr. Chris Harmon states, “As we look at getting our students ready for college and the professional world, we want to make sure they are armed with the skills that businesses and schools are looking for.”
Those chosen for this program had to undergo an application and interview process. Students also have to be in good behavior and academic standing. Harmon claims that a potential Pisgah Fellow should be “willing to learn and be well-spoken with creative and engaging ideas.”
With the new addition of the Pisgah Fellows, prospective families can see the core values of Mount Pisgah students: curiosity, kindness, and presence.
Admin supervisor Megan Koch says, “Something that is really important for families when looking at a school is to see what the end product looks like.”
The inclusion of the Pisgah Fellows in admissions events, like Preview Day, serves as a crucial decision point for families interested in Mount Pisgah. Instead of only being able to see students when they are working inside the classroom, prospective parents can now talk and ask questions to current students.
Koch claims that “When [parents] are able to see juniors and seniors who are so put together, driven and goal-oriented, the families can see their own children getting to be where current students are.
With the Pisgah Fellows program still being new and young to Mount Pisgah, it is believed by the admissions advisors that “it will pave the way for itself and present opportunities for students to gain experience in admissions events like meetings and marketing.”
