The 2024 season for Mount Pisgah’s varsity volleyball team was nothing short of incredible.
Before last year, the only state championship volleyball had won was in 2002. Now, with the leadership of Head Coach Claire Morgan assisted by Madelyn Jardina, Carly Morris and Janey Smith, the program consistently sees further and further into the postseason.
“The Mount Pisgah volleyball program is a competitive program that is eager to win and strives for excellence,” explains Morgan.
This year, GHSA reorganized the teams in both the state and area brackets, combining 1A through 3A private schools into one. Because of this, the competition was much harder than last year, leading Mount Pisgah to consistently go against schools double or triple their size. However, this wasn’t nerve racking for the team; it was motivating.
“This year’s team never backed down from tough competition, and was even more eager to win in those tougher games,” says Morgan.
Although they fell short of the back-to-back state champions title, Mount Pisgah ended the season with a triumphant 41-8 record.
One incredible moment from the season was when the team persevered and won the area championship against Mount Paran 3-2. This was one of the many hard fought battles this season, demonstrating how determined the team was to win.
“One word I would use to describe this season is grit, because no matter what the situation was, the team fought to the end,” explains junior captain Reghan Frazetta.
Through tough matches, overnight tournaments and more, the girls on the team have the foundation for a great season next year.
“These ladies really love playing together and have really built something special,” explains Morgan.
The 2024 season aside, the volleyball team is still hungry for more.
“I think the team will carry grit and determination into the next season,” says Morris.
By mixing their strong bond with their hunger for a third program title, the varsity volleyball team is ready to dominate in the 2025 season.
