With the holiday season here, the Class of 2025 is cherishing their last Christmas as Mount Pisgah students.
In December of each year, the administration and senior parents organize a special breakfast and tree-lighting with homemade casseroles and treats to make the seniors’ last high school holiday season memorable.
A special memory that seniors will always remember from this event was hanging their childhood ornament alongside their senior portrait snowflake.
Ms. Weller, the Dean of Student Engagement, says that the “ornaments from home honors their [the students’] past experiences and Christmas celebrations, and placing the new ornament is representative of this new phase of life.”
“Seeing other grades before us in the past being able to hang their ornaments on the tree made it seem like a right of passage for us,” said senior Caroline Boardman.
As a surprise, Weller says that she “also asked parents to contribute childhood Christmas photos for a slideshow.”
Senior Caleigh Coherd said, “It was unbelievable to see how our grade has grown over the years.”
The teachers and faculty all enjoyed seeing their students throughout their different stages of life. Whether that be crying in Santa’s lap as a baby, or seeing the student as a teenager celebrating with their family.
This event was a way for seniors to gather and celebrate as an entire community, which allowed them to reminisce on their Christmas memories at Mount Pisgah throughout the years. Also, being able to dress up, listen to Christmas music, eat, take photos and watch our surprise slideshow made the event one that seniors will always hold close.
“[The event] gave me time to reflect on the memories I have had with my small group and small group leader, Mrs. Coleman,” said senior Chapel Hornsby. “Also, it gives me a moment to pause and truly take time to enjoy my last holiday season at this school.”
Senior year can be stressful, but with a little holiday cheer, the Class of 2025 came together to have an event full of fun memories.
