With a vast selection of snacks and tables to study at, students are constantly visiting the Patriot Cafe. But, sometimes, checking out isn’t as smooth as you’d hope, and getting a snack takes quite some time.
Caitlin Konstadinidis pays a regular visit to the Patriot Cafe during breaks.
“It normally takes me 15 minutes to get to the register because of how long the line is. It takes me the whole break to get a snack and I’m pretty much always late to class,” said Konstadinidis.
Having the cafe in a small area with many students and one register, isn’t a good combo. One thing that would help students check out faster would be adding more registers.
Ruby Crespo is one of the many students who agree with this idea.
“It would help so much adding more registers because students would be in and out quicker. It also wouldn’t feel so packed in the cafe,” said Crespo.
The Patriot Cafe solely takes payment through credit or debit cards, posing a problem for students who don’t have a card and limiting them from buying items.
To solve this problem, the school could consider allowing students to have the ability to add money onto school key cards to pay instead. Parents or students could transfer extra money to the school onto their key cards so they are able to buy things at the cafe.
Campbell Cummins agrees with loading money onto key cards.
“Money on our key cards would be beneficial to students because some people who don’t have credit cards would be able to have their parents upload money to their account for food. I would go to the cafe more if I had my money on my key card because it would be nice being able to save my money and have a certain amount dedicated to the food at the cafe,” said Cummins.
While students love having the option to buy snacks and drinks throughout the day, implementing a few changes could help alleviate some of the congestion that happens during the breaks.
