This summer Clay Kelsh, the upper school’s Latin teacher, is taking a group of students to Greece.
The trip will take place from June 2 to June 10 and students will have the opportunity to visit seven different parts of the country.
“Truly, I just love showing off my favorite places to people whom I care about,” said Kelsh. “But also, my students are the ones who presumably are already interested in these amazing locales. That, and I love to travel myself, so it all works out.”
The trip will have expert local tour guides throughout all the cities and will visit many popular places including Athens, the Acropolis, the Parthenon, Santorini and the ancient Delphi site.
Kelsh has many fun activities planned including a Greek cultural evening and dance lesson and a Greek coffee and treats cooking lesson.
“What made me want to go on the trip was how excited Mr.Kelsh was about it and to go somewhere I have never been,” sophomore Lila McMurray says. “I hope to learn about all the different Greek culture and history while there.”
Kelsh has been taking students abroad for many years. Last summer, he took a group of students to Italy.
“The trip to Italy last year was very fun and it was one of my favorite trips I’ve been on,” said sophomore Jackson Ballard. “I want to go on the trip so I can see different cultures and history with my friends.”
The trip costs around $6,000 which includes everything except lunch. If a student is interested in going on the trip, speak to Kelsh in room H107.
