On Feb. 21 Tate Mcrae released her third studio and highly anticipated album “So Close to What.”
The album has 15 songs with lead single “It’s OK in OK” and second single “2 Hands”, along with a bonus track she added called “Siren Sounds”.
In “Too Close to What” Mcrae changes some of the ways she sings in her songs.
In her older albums, Mcrae kept it simple in her singing. This year, she added some really good key components to her new songs like “Sports Car” where she incorporated a whispering part bringing the song to life. She also collaborated with a few singers in some of her new songs. She sang with the rapper Kid Laroi in “I Know Love” and with rapper Flo Milli in “Blood on my Hands.”
Mcrae’s rise to fame happened after being a finalist on So You Think You Can Dance in 2016 and then the release of her first song “One Day” in 2017. Since then, she has released multiple albums such as “Think Later” and “I Used to Think I Could Fly.” With the release of her first few albums, Mcrae gained a following on Tik Tok and Instagram, especially with her hit song “Greedy” with over 1.6 billion listens. This led her to her World Tour in 2024 and the release of her newest album.
Mcrae will be going on tour again in 2025 for her “Miss Possessive Tour” to promote “So Close To What”.
“So Close to What” is already popular with Mcrae’s fans. “It’s OK I’m OK” has over 209 million plays on Spotify so far. With all the new elements she added in her new songs, fans are so impressed and believe this is her best album to date.
