March Madness is hands down the most exciting time of the year in sports.
68 NCAA college basketball teams compete in a single-elimination tournament to determine the national champion. Every year, millions of fans get in on the action, crafting their brackets and placing bets on who will make it through each round.
However, in 2025, the tournament has proven how unpredictable the sport can be—there are officially zero perfect brackets left.
This year, 39 million brackets were published across both men’s and women’s basketball, but not a single one could predict the outcome. And that’s what makes March Madness so insane–anything can happen.
A top-ranked team could fall apart in a quarter, busting your bracket. For example, this year’s final men’s bracket fell in the second round after No. 3 Kentucky beat No. 6 Illinois. On the women’s side, the final bracket fell when No. 1 UCLA took down No. 3 LSU in the Elite Eight.
Upsets are what make March Madness truly wild—when a lower-seeded team knocks out a higher-seeded one.
The men’s side had some insane upsets this year. No. 10 Arkansas pulled off back-to-back shocks, taking down No. 7 Kansas (79-72) and No. 2 St. John’s (75-66) to make it to the Sweet Sixteen. Another big upset was No. 12 Colorado State beating No. 5 Memphis (78-70) in the first round, ruining many brackets. And don’t forget No. 12 McNeese beat No. 5 Clemson (69-67), once again proving how crazy March Madness can be.
The women’s bracket had its jaw-dropping moments, too. No. 10 Oregon won against No. 7 Vanderbilt (77-73) in overtime, a game with fans on the edge of their seats. Another shocker was No. 10 South Dakota State beating No. 7 Oklahoma State (74-68), showing that statistics and rankings don’t mean everything. It’s all about determination, hustle, and confidence—no matter the seed.
So, if your bracket was busted this year, don’t worry–you’re not alone. March Madness isn’t just about predictions; it’s about the excitement of competition, the thrill of the underdog story, and the pure unpredictability that makes it the best time to be a fan.
