When you walk on the second floor of Geier Hall, chances are you will find Mrs. Gambill reading a novel or preparing a fun activity for her English classes.
Over the years, Mrs. Gambill has taught in both the lower and the upper schools here at Mount Pisgah. She loves Mount Pisgah and is loved by her students and coworkers.
“I’ve worked at Pisgah for six years. I love that we can learn so much about life and the human condition through literature. I love the idea that it’s important to write because we’re able to share our trials and tribulations and that each of our stories and our voices matter,” said Gambill
Mrs. Gambill is preparing students for outside the classroom and real world situations. She loves giving her students the chance to be curious and uplifting her students daily.
“My hope is that students are equipped to think critically about the world around them, and that the process of learning is far more important than the final product,” said Gambill. “I hope that my students learn to be curious and ask questions. In addition, I hope my students realize that no one is perfect and that God gives us enough strength for each day, and each day is a fresh start.”
Students who have taken her class are very fond of her and remember her with joy.
“In my first year at Mount Pisgah, I was in Mrs. Gambill’s class and she welcomed me in, knowing I was new, she invited me into conversations. She was invested in my personal life and was wanting to know more about me, not just my English abilities,” said sophomore Wynn McFarland. “I love how open she is to discussion and is truly curious about all of her students. Even though I am not in her class anymore, I see her in the hallways and always get a smile.”
Students who currently take her class enjoy how engaging it is.
“My favorite thing about Mrs. Gambill is how she keeps her class engaging and fun for all of her students. She always has fun activities for us to do in relation to the books we are reading, and she never fails to make her students smile both in the classroom and around the building,” said senior Jade Hudson.
Mrs. Gambill is invested in the people around her and is remarked as inspiring and inviting.
“She is a warm hearted person that cares deeply for others. She keeps her classroom engaging and entertains her students with meaningful topics,” said senior Brendan Noll. She is a wonderful teacher with a big smile and inspires many to better people. She is encouraging and inviting and always asks students about how they have been.”
Outside of teaching, students often feel like they can open up to her because she is so welcoming to all.
“ [Mrs. Gambill] is one of those teachers who I can go and talk to in my free time and not feel like I’m killing her vibe. She’s so loving towards everyone and looks to make people happy which I genuinely enjoy. I also love that provides tea for us, I find it very kind,” said senior Veronica Hedricks
Mrs. Gambill is so much more than an English teacher. She is involved in her church and has a small business, with 100% of the profits going back to serving the community..
“If I wasn’t teaching, I’d love for my family to take our Works and Wonders coffee business to the next level and actually open up a coffee house,” said Gambill. “My family would love to provide a place for people to come, hang out, join a book club, have a Bible study or an open mic night all while supporting the local community by donating to Faith based organizations.”
Gambill loves Mount Pisgah and she values the relationship between the Mount Pisgah family.
“Mount Pisgah is a special place. What I love most about working here is our community: the students, the teachers, the support staff. I love that we value relationships first. I’m especially thankful that we can pray and talk about Jesus.” said Gambill.
