As you journey through life, many opportunities will unfold before you.
Everyone is unique, with their own set of passions and aspirations. While some may dream of becoming actors, artists, CEOs, or entrepreneurs, others may have more unconventional career paths in mind.
What’s fascinating is that these aspirations are often shaped by personal influences, be it a specific reason or a person who ignites our passion.
“I’m hoping to pursue something creative. I’m not entirely sure if it would be through something like art or theater, but I need to be able to keep using my creative side,” said senior Pearl Melioris. “I always knew I was passionate about the arts. My creative abilities have also received ample support from my parents and teachers, impacting my career path. Whenever I see a good play, I want to be an actress.”
There are sometimes situations where you experience moments and conversations that help you determine your passion. It could be a feeling or a calling to a career, but it could just “feel right.” Everybody has different paths to their career, their story and why they do it. You may even have a job in mind that would be an absolute dream for you.
“I am still trying to decide, but the idea of an archaeologist or an interior designer owning my own company is at the top of my list. My dream career is probably a travel photographer because I get to photograph beautiful things worldwide,” said freshman Ellie Lottes. “There have been moments where I was for sure, but I’ve always changed, not ready to decide so early.”
Thinking about careers in the future can help motivate you to do good in school and reach your goals. When it comes to making big decisions, the preparation that you make going into your career can have a significant impact on your well being.
“Being a lawyer has always called to me; I find it interesting and a pretty cool concept,” said freshman Valentina Feitosa-Caramelo. “I started thinking about this career recently when I joined a mock trial, and it impacted me by motivating me and making me be focused on my grades, so I work extra hard in school.”
In conclusion, careers can be tricky to determine. There are many options which can be both stressful and exciting at the same time. Some people may believe that they were made for a certain career and others figure it out as they go.
