Russell Aguirre has taken over as head coach for Mount Pisgah’s Varsity volleyball team, prepared and excited to make an impact as the new leader.
The team has had an impressive past few years, and with Aguirre’s leadership, the team is set for even greater success.
With over 17 years of experience, Aguirre is more than prepared to steer this program to the top. His coaching journey has taken him to several reputable institutions, including Landmark Christian School, Hebron Christian Academy, and Mount Vernon School.
Now, he brings his wealth of knowledge and experience to Mount Pisgah. His impressive resume includes 13 State Playoff appearances, two of which were GHSA State Championships. Aguirre’s leadership has also been instrumental in directing club volleyball in Louisiana and Georgia, with numerous top 10 finishes across various tournaments.
Aguirre is determined to keep developing the legacy of Mount Pisgah volleyball. Recently, the program has been to the state championship two years in a row, an impressive record to step into as a new coach. But adding more accolades to his already outstanding resume isn’t what drew Aguirre to Mount Pisgah.
“I love the school community and culture. Everyone has been so welcoming and encouraging since I first stepped on campus and interviewed for the position,” he explained.
With Mount Pisgah’s values in mind, Aguirre’s vision for the team extends to their spiritual growth. He wants this team to be rooted in faith, with God as the foundation and guiding factor for the program. This holistic approach is the perfect way to achieve success, inspiring the team to be more than just athletes, but also ambassadors for their faith.
“One of my other main goals with this team is for us to glorify God by empowering the girls to impact this world for Jesus Christ. It doesn’t matter how many matches we win or how many championships we win, if we fail to disciple you all to be laborers for Christ, then we are wasting our time,” he explained.
Aguirre intends to continue prioritizing this community culture as he leads the program.
“Success for me in the first year is simple: Establish the culture I plan to have here in the volleyball program at Mount Pisgah,” he described. “If we can establish a culture of hard work and honoring God, and everyone can buy into it, not only will we start to see the results from that, but it will be a lot of fun too.”
It doesn’t stop there for Aguirre. He plans to continue growing the legacy at Mount Pisgah, pushing this team past what everyone thinks is possible.
To Aguirre, the sky is the limit for this team, and he’s set on making sure his time at Mount Pisgah gets off on the right foot, setting the program up for success.
“Ultimately, I want this team to be the foundation of what future Mount Pisgah varsity volleyball teams accomplish in the future,” he said.
His vision for the team’s future is clear, and it promises growth, success, and a lasting legacy for the program.
With a proven leader at the helm and a team hungry for growth, Mount Pisgah volleyball is stepping into a new era. Aguirre’s vision promises not only wins on the court, but impact beyond it.
