Taylor Swift announced her newest album “The Life of a Showgirl” on Aug. 12, while guest starring on her fiancé Travis Kelce’s podcast.
This album is highly anticipated, with theories emerging about songs, titles and future easter-egg Instagram posts from Swift.
While this album announcement was a surprise for many, Taylor Nation, the official Swift fan account, hinted at a potential album release in their social media posts leading up to the announcement from Swift herself.
Fans find themselves thrilled by the announcement of Swift’s new album that will be released Oct. 3 at midnight.
“I’m really excited for the overall vibe of the album and the kind of style she’s making the songs in. [Swift] said it would be a fun infectious pop vibe, and since 1989 and reputation were already hits and have the same producers as life of a showgirl, I can’t wait for what hits she’ll make next,” said sophomore Valentina Feitosa-Caramelo. “Taylor never fails to have clever and poetic lyrics that I love listening to and add a great dynamic and depth to her songs.”
Since this announcement, there have been multiple countdowns on Swift’s social media starting at random times. These countdowns led to four different album covers titled: “Its Beautiful”, “The Shiny Bug”, “Baby, That’s Show Business” and “Tiny Bubbles”.
“I think all the different covers she dropped are creative and artistic in a way,” said Feitosa-Caramelo. “There’s definitely a lot going on in them and they are very elaborate, but I’m sure once the music comes out we will get connections or understand why the album covers are designed the way they are.”
Fans wonder if this means we will have alternate versions just like “The Tortured Poets Department”, with the Anthology version of the album. This could mean more songs and even new collaborations with artists like Stevie Nicks and Olivia Rodrigo.
“I keep going back and forth about whether she has some mysterious 13th track that she is still going to release that might be a collab or if she’s really going to keep it clean at 12 tracks for her 12th album,” said Alison Cuppia. “That would be the opposite compared to the ‘Tortured Poets Department’ anthology and the ‘Midnights’ variants.
So far, there is only one collaboration for this album with the song “The Life of a Showgirl” featuring Sabrina Carpenter. Since both her and Swift are popular artists, this has fans very excited.
“I’m looking forward to the Sabrina Carpenter collaboration because she and Taylor [Swift] are my favorite artists. They both have beautiful voices that are going to sound so good together in a catchy sound,” said sophomore Faith Jennerich.
Many fans are especially surprised about this album due to Swift’s supposed “break” which she started after her last “Eras Tour” show in December of 2024. But it seems that she really has been hinting at this album all along.
Every fan is excited about this album and what it has to offer, however some are holding on hope for Taylor’s Version of her older albums.
“I really hope she will re-release her Taylor Swift (self titled debut) album, plus there must be some Reputation vault tracks,” added Cuppia. “But I wouldn’t be surprised if she adds a 13th track as a special collab because she loves to entertain her fans by keeping them on the edge of their seats waiting for what she will do next.”
