Megan Childress, a Mount Pisgah alumna, returns as the head coach of varsity girls soccer. Childress graduated from Mount Pisgah in 2019 and competed in soccer, track and field, volleyball and basketball for four years. She also earned soccer all-region honors.
Childress went on to play Division I soccer at Wofford College, where she played 70 matches and scored 13 goals. She was a consistent recipient of Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll and CSC Academic All-District.
“I am beyond excited to be back coaching at the school I once attended,” said Childress. “I am most excited to get to know the team and make this program feel like a sisterhood.”
Transitioning from athlete to coach, Childress understands the differing needs of each player.
“My coaching style is pretty fluid,” she stated. “My goal is to address each player in a way that they respond best to and that will look different from player to player.”
Additionally, her goal for the season is for the team to learn how to compete against all odds.
“I think it could go without saying that I want to win. However, above all else, I want every player to find what makes them competitive,” said Childress.
As proud Patriots, the Childress family is deeply involved in Mount Pisgah athletics. Childress’ sister Maddy graduated in 2023 and now runs track at University of South Carolina. Childress’ youngest sister Emmy is a current sophomore at Mount Pisgah who plays volleyball and runs track.
