Shoes are more than just something you wear; they reflect who someone is. Some might have shiny, super-clean shoes, while others might only wear the same shoes every day that are never cleaned and worn in, even if they have other options. From the color to the style, shoes can reflect a person, especially at Mount Pisgah.
Since we have to wear the same uniform daily, we learn who a person truly is from their shoes, especially on Fridays.
For Junior Brianny Rosado, shoes show her self-expression. Her favorite pair is the Adidas x Bad Bunny “Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana.” She loves that they are one of a kind and not just a basic, everyday pair of shoes. Rosado believes that shoes play a key role in reflecting who she is, shaping her decision on which shoes she buys.
“Each pair has a different touch to them, which brings out who I am,” said Rosado.
Taking this further, Rosado would love to design her own pair of shoes someday because she would be able to add her own personal touches, making them easier to style and come up with outfits on the spot.
Niki Kumar believes variety is key. Her go-to pair of shoes is her Birkenstock clogs.
“They’re the most versatile shoes, you can wear them anywhere: with jeans, sweatpants, or to the store. They go with everything,” says Kumar.
She is all about style and accessibility, so she needs a shoe she can wear at every occasion.
Pierre Nelson, on the other hand, already owns his dream shoes. They are called the Dior B30s and are basically his most prized possessions. Although new, he says he is going to start wearing them four times a week because they are a fashion statement.
“Christian Dior did it best. He does his thing,” explains Nelson.
For junior Brice Rasberry, though, fashion is art, and his shoes are his canvas. His favorite pair is the Pink Marni Slides, which are made with material straight from Italy. He chose these shoes because they stood out to him the most. To Rasberry, shoes are one of the loudest forms of expression.
“Fashion is art, and who doesn’t want to make art?” explains Raspberry.
Raspberry has loved fashion since he can remember and hopes to design his own line one day.
As students at Mount Pisgah have voiced, shoes are most definitely a form of self-expression. But the question remains: Do you agree?
