Each year, the student body nominates girls from each grade level to represent their class on homecoming court.
“Being picked for homecoming court is a great feeling. I am glad my classmates thought I was a good person to represent the Class of 2028,” said Sophomore Ella Dornan.
The nominated girls were so excited and surprised to have this fantastic opportunity they participated in.
“I was pleasantly surprised [to be nominated], and I’m excited to be in court with other awesome girls who I know care about the school as much as I do,” said Senior Lila Belle Mutch.
The chosen girls get to do many fun but stressful things on homecoming court. As part of the week’s festivities, they all get to be in the parade and walk across the field at halftime of the homecoming football game.
There is also a lot of practice and timing involved in the perfect walk across the field on Friday night. There is not much time between homecoming court announcements and the actual court, so participants must get ready as fast as possible for the event.
“I quickly ordered a dress and crossed my fingers that it would fit. The other girls on court and I also had to rehearse to make sure everything goes smoothly on Friday,” said Mutch.
These girls had an incredible experience with many exciting aspects, such as the parade and the walk across the field. It’s great that these amazing girls had a great time participating in a fun school tradition.
“My favorite part was the parade, it was so much fun to drive around and see everyone cheering and waving. It’s like a big party.” Said Tyler Wellon.
The seniors get an extra special part of this honor with the choice of homecoming queen. Five senior girls will contend for the crown this year, unlike the other grade levels, where two girls are chosen.
Phoebe Koch, Lila Belle Mutch, Karly Johnson, Grayson Barett and Avery Barton are the seniors nominated by their peers to represent the Class of 2026.
Lila Belle Mutch was crowned queen on Friday night and graciously took the honor.
