After off-season training and preparation for the 2025-2026 season of varsity swim at Mount Pisgah Christian School, the swimmers are ready to get back in the water with confidence to make it their strongest season yet. The team is looking forward to what they can accomplish this year for themselves and each other, and to grow closer as a team.
“My favorite part about the swim team is the positive community and how supportive and considerate the team is, no matter what,” said junior Sydney Hutchins.
There are superstitions swimmers have whether it is a pre-race routine, lucky swimwear, or even eating certain foods before a race.
“I do not have a lot of superstitions before races, but one thing I always do is splash water on my head before races, and I like to wear my race goggles,” said junior Lauritz Adriansen.
The team is led by Coach Allison Hopkins who emphasizes the significance of discipline and is leading every swimmer to success for the season this year.
“I truly enjoy pouring into this team. They are a remarkable group of kids who train late at night off campus,” said Hopkins. “Their work ethic, perseverance and enthusiasm motivate me throughout the season.”
The team’s first meet of the season will take place in early November. Swimmers are training daily to perfect their stroke techniques and become confident in their abilities mentally and physically.
“Success for this team is getting faster at each meet and setting goals and reaching them,” mentioned Hopkins.
As the athletes look ahead to later meets, they are all striving to represent Mount Pisgah with teamwork and determination.
“My goal is to drop my time in my 100-back,” stated senior Erin Hopkins. “Then make the A-Relay for state.”
With their first meet coming up on Nov. 7 at the Howard Invitational on Georgia Tech’s campus, the swimmers are enjoying building friendships and motivating each other to do their best at every practice.
“I have fun hanging out with my friends like James Crutchfield and Maddox Wright and being able to be around others that are not in my grade,” said Adriansen.
