The Mount Pisgah Investment Club has quickly become one of the most popular Upper School clubs this year, even though it has been around since the 2023–2024 school year. The club is led by senior RJ Zeising, who runs the meetings and is sponsored by Dr. Varner, who helps guide discussions and provides support for the students.
“I like the investment club because I get to learn and teach about real-world skills such as investing in the stock market,” said Zeising, “Not only do we focus on investing, but the reasons why certain industries thrive and how this relates to things like political policies.”
Everyone starts with a fake investing budget instead of real money, which allows students to take risks and learn without worrying about losing anything.
“I like the investment club because it makes investing fun by having a large competition for everyone to participate in and trying to make the most money out of investments,” said junior Jackson Ballard.
Even students who joined with little or no investing experience are starting to pick up skills like reading stock charts, following company news, and understanding what affects stock prices.
“It’s giving me an opportunity to learn without the risk of losing money and I really enjoy that,” said junior Christian King.
The Investment Club is accepting new members for their monthly meetings. Talk to Zeising or Dr. Varner in order to get involved.
